Forced To Be Productive Because Summer Is Gone.

I counted it up and all in all, this summer I spent a total of exactly 250 hours at band camp. IT WAS GREAT. That doesn't even include the 4th of July parade/section day rehearsal/show preview. Two weeks in August were literally just band- 4 days a week for 12 hours- and I'm still excited for weeknight rehearsals. Is this a problem? It's messing me up.

Anyway. School started yesterday. It's very crowded, which is bad for someone who likes peace and quiet and cats, but also it's fun, and I like my teachers and whatnot. Yay.

So yeah, that about sums things up, and soon I'll be drowning in essays and football games (which we all know is just the opening act for the marching band. Hehe.)

Also! Check out my friend's blog! At the moment there's nothing there but she is writing a story and will post it there :)

It's Messing With My Head...

This past week, there were four days of 12-hour band camp. Yes, 12 hours, as in 9-9 Monday-Thursday. IT WAS GREAT.

I spent so much time there that when I woke up at 4 a.m. last night because my sister's alarm clock reset, I thought it was a metronome. Not even kidding. It took me a little while to figure out that a) I was not at school and b) I was probably going a little delusional. Cough.

Bored.

Accomplishments today: none. Oh well. Here's an update on my exciting life. Haha.

I would play flute but I got two teeth pulled yesterday (yes, baby teeth, haha) and my mouth still hurts...even though the appointment was at 9 a.m. I could have been sleeping. Or something. But no. Anyway, it really wasn't that bad, since I was on laughing gas and probably a million other things. I was really loopy. It was fun. (According to my brother- and I don't even remember this- I was making little noises and laughing and everything in the car afterwards. Wish I could've seen it.)

So that happened. And I did my nails today, which almost didn't happen because even though it was chipping from last time, it was funny.

My friends and I did that for the drum majors during band camp. The others were I [heart] COURTNEY and I LOVE GWEN. It was cool.

(There, Aria, I mentioned your obsession with Kevin. Kinda.)

Ooh.

Also.

I've been Spotify-ing a lot and I made playlists and whatnot. :D

Obsession Rant #3

My hands hurt. A lot. Still. I blame it on the 80s.

Yesterday I discovered this old video game called Qix (said like "kicks"). I don't really know how to describe it. It's a little like Pac Man, I guess. It looks like this:

So you see that line that comes out of the blue mass? With the red diamond on the leading end? That is you. You control your direction with a joystick and have to claim 60% of the board to win. On that version it's 75% (I want to try it...). Meanwhile, you're also avoiding the dots on the lines called Sparx, which travel along the borders (of the board and your claimed area) and will take away a life if they touch you. They can not travel along your open Stix, though. The Super Sparx are not as limited. Those are the firework-like things that spiral all over the place. If they touch your open line (Stix) before you close it off, you die.

Wonderful.

There are more specific things, too, like not being able to cross your own line and whatnot. Anyways, it's a lot of fun. And I'm getting good at it. Yay :)

Obsession Rant #2: JBM + Les Choristes

Link to soundtrack (copy and paste into browser or search on Spotify/Youtube):

Favorite actor, favorite movie. Of. All. Time.

And it's in French :)

Les Choristes, 2004, is about the students at the correctional boys' school Fond de l'Etang in 1949. At the beginning of the movie--50 years after the main movie takes place--Pierre Morhange is visited by an old classmate, Bébert Pépinot. He has the diary of their teacher, Clément Mathieu, a failed musician.

When M. Mathieu arrives at Fond de l'Etang, he sees a young boy waiting at the gates. This is Pépinot. His parents were killed in WWII and he will not accept the fact, saying that his father is coming for him on a Saturday and he will leave with him. (Remember this. It's important.) In the school, Headmaster Rachin is punishing multiple boys for misconduct, but Mathieu tries to win them over and be the good guy. He immediately sees that this doesn't work, as Maxence, the caretaker, is badly hurt by a prank. Mathieu knows who did it, but instead of punishing him the way Rachin wanted him to, he keeps it a secret and encourages him to help the caretaker recover.

One day, Mathieu hears the boys singing rude songs about him. He decides that if they want to sing, they will sing something good. He forms a choir with all of the boys in the school--all but two, Morhange and Pépinot. Pépinot is very shy, and Morhange refuses to sing. Later, Mathieu discovers Morhange singing to himself when he is alone, and sees an opportunity for a soloist.

(How could you not?! His voice...oh my god...he just emits rays of sunshine from his mouth...)

After a while, the students at Fond de l'Etang are much happier. They are becoming friends with one another and M. Mathieu finally feels like he is successful. Meanwhile, he is in love with Pierre Morhange's mother (of course there's an intertwined romance in there...) but it doesn't work out.

Then the school burns.

And Mathieu is fired.

He didn't do it, of course. But he's still fired, because Headmaster Rachin is still a jerk. The boys are forbidden to say goodbye to their teacher, so they lock themselves in a classroom (the fire is out by now, obviously, and the school is fine) and throw paper airplanes out the window, singing the music they were taught. (By this point I was already in tears. You will be too, I promise.)

Although the boys are all in the school, Pépinot gets out and runs after Mathieu. He wants to come with him. Mathieu says he has to stay here, where he belongs, and boards the bus to leave. When the bus is halfway down the road, and little Pépinot is in tears, Mathieu tells the driver to turn around, and Pépinot leaves with him.

Then, Mathieu says, "Pépinot was right. His parents did come for him on a Saturday."

Mathieu isn't his actual dad, of course, but he is now. <3

Rachin is the man to the left of the bottom row. Pépinot is in the middle of that row, and Mathieu stands on the other end. Above him is Maxence, the caretaker. In the third row, two boys over from Maxence, is Jean-Baptiste Mauier. Yay!

And Pépinot, because he's adorable:

So anyway. That's that. Go watch the movie.

I love you, JBM.

You're Excited For Tomorrow...You Just Don't Know It Yet

Tomorrow is Jean-Baptiste Maunier's 24 and a halfth birthday.

Or is it 24th and a half? I don't know.

Anyway. I will tell you all about him and you will love it and it will turn into an obsession and soon enough you'll have t-shirts with his face on them. Or at least a coffee mug.

I promise you're gonna love it.

I DISCOVERED SOMETHING AMAZING ABOUT BLOGGER

I'm kinda new at this. I had a blog like a year ago and admittedly forgot about it...sorry Steph ;) So now I'm relearning the magic of Blogger.

When you're designing how the blog looks, you can add widgets. They're those cute little things on the side. Like the plus-one button.

Well. I have found my favorite widget of all time. As soon as I can get it to work--laptop is being stubborn AGAIN--I will add it.

I can have quotes from Breaking Dawn (the fourth Twilight book, as if you didn't know that) continuously appearing on my blog. And every time you refresh, it gives you another one. :D Yay! I'll work on it :) hehe

Golden Llama 20 & My Birthday

Today is Golden Llama Day.

And that is the Golden Llama. I made it.

It's wearing a plaid shirt and is standing in a box full of apples. And then there's a top hat. That was just random. The rest of it actually means something.

Anyway. Today is Golden Llama 20 Day, which means it's the 20th Golden Llama Day. It's on the 18th of every month so get ready guys. :D

Also. Funny story to tell. Yesterday was my birthday (yay) and my little sister told me she had a very special gift for me. She handed me a small package and told me to unwrap that one first.

So I did. I held it in my hand and I asked her, "Is this a peach?" It was a round object wrapped up in a paper towel and taped together. And it smelled good. Definitely a peach.

I unwrapped it and yes, it was a peach. *sigh* It was hilarious.

Obsession Rant #1

Okay. You need to understand my obsessions. There are a lot of them and I have stuff to talk about. I'm just going to list them and you're just going to wait for me to post links and YouTube videos and whatnot. :) Yay.

  1. Les Choristes. This is a French movie that I am obsessed with. It's truly an amazing story and the actors are cute (Jean-Baptiste Maunier...lots more on this to come. Hehe.) and it made me laugh and cry and download every song from the soundtrack. You know it's a good movie when it forces you into a French choir music phase. Hehe.
  2. Twilight. (Shut up, Sarah, you've only seen the movie and the book is always better.) I'm nearly done with the last book and I don't know what I'm gonna do with my life after that. Maybe I'll just get a bunch of Twilight t-shirts and wear them every day. I'll write reviews here. You're welcome.
  3. The Haunting of Sunshine Girl. (Again. Sarah. I swear you will love it if you take the time to watch the two-minute videos). It's a YouTube channel about a girl who moves into a supposedly haunted house. She's funny and weird and awkward. I love her. So much. Look her up.
  4. Band. I love band. I play flute in concert band and marching band. We had the first part of camp last week and it was so hot and so sunny and I got so sunburned (what can I say? I'm a ginger. Haha.) but it was a lot of fun and I'm really excited.
  5. Writing. Enough said. Eventually I'll make a wattpad and tell y'all my username and whatnot. Or I'll post a chapter. I don't know yet. I'll talk about it soon.
  6. Golden Llama. I know you have no idea what that is and that's probably good. Long story. You'll see.
  7. Paranormal stuff. Any of it. Sunshine Girl, obviously, and also Ghost Hunters and Haunted Collector and Fact or Faked.
  8. Music. I don't know why I didn't think to put this higher up on the list, but it's not really in any specific order, so who cares. I constantly have earbuds in or Spotify playlists coming out of every speaker in the house. It's kind of a weird variety of music, too--I guess it's indie but closer to pop but closer to alternative. Maybe? I don't know. But it's stuff like Imagine Dragons and Bastille and Christina Perri and Fall Out Boy and Bea Miller and Lorde and OneRepublic and The Script and Coldplay and The Goo Goo Dolls and Grouplove and Maroon 5 and Phoenix and Snow Patrol and Youngblood Hawke and Walk The Moon. I'll stop now. Oh, and anything from the Les Choristes soundtrack. Or the Twilight Breaking Dawn pt. 2. Hehe.
I think that's it. I might add more. I'll definitely talk more. Yay. :)

Hello.

My friend Sarah wanted me to make a blog.
So I made a blog.
And this is it.
And now I shall rant.
It shall be quite entertaining.
Possibly quite obnoxious.
I am both of those things.
So yeah.
Here goes. :D
